About the Apple:

Front: Mosaic of Bolton landscape referencing Bolton’s historical past to include pasturelands, saltbox colonial homes, nearby rivers, apple trees, family farms and, most recently, vineyards.  The mosaic includes stained glass, recycled roof slate from Bolton homes, handmade clay tiles, crystals, glass beads and stones.  The inspiration for the title, Happiness, comes from the green street sign on the corner of Spectacle Hill and South Bolton Roads that declares “Happiness” with arrows pointing in both directions.  Installed by neighbors, the sign captures the community vibe and involvement of the town. My goal was to capture some of that feeling through mosaic.

Back: Painting of apple in acrylic house paint.  Colors inspired by Mother Apple, an heirloom variety developed in Bolton in the early 1800’s.
